THE SPACESHIP

I was walking home one night
When I saw a shining light
Where it came from I do not know
I only know it had a brilliant glow,
It headed with speed through the sky
I really couldn`t believe my eyes
It came so sudden and so fast
In a moment it was past.
I saw it land upon the ground
Scattering earth up all around
What I saw before me now
Was a spaceship, I don`t know how.
I didn`t know what could be inside
I wanted to run away and hide
But when the door opened and they appeared
I knew that I had nothing to fear
One came forward holding out his hand
And he knew that I would understand
They hadn`t meant to give me a fright
They had lost their way that night.
They would soon be on their way
Before the light would break next day.

THE PARK

We took a trip to our local park
To see what we could find
We saw some children feeding the ducks
We thought that was very kind.
Two squirrels sat up in the tree
Eating nuts that they had found
They are very timid animals
Better not make a sound.

Some dogs were playing on the grass
Chasing after a stick
They jumped and pranced and ran around
They were very quick.
A couple were going down the path
Walking hand in hand
A little girl had a bucket and spade
Playing in the sand.

Over in the corner there was a swing
A roundabout and a slide
The children like to play round there
And the things they like to ride.
We like to walk on round the park
Looking at all these things
And on a branch up in a tree
We hear a little bird sing.

SCHOOL DAYS

The children have gone to school today
Passing the duck pond on the way
I wonder what they are going to do
Writing and maybe some painting too.

Some of the children like to bake
They like to make a little cake,
Others like to play in the sand
Making a castle with a spade in their hand.

When it is sunny they play outside
On the swings and on the slide,
Sometimes they like to play with the ball
Kicking it up against the wall.

The teacher stands near with a watchful eye
Watching them play as time goes by,
Now here is their mummies, it`s time for home
They will take them, so they don`t go alone.

THE FAIRIES

I saw fairies in my garden one night
Dancing under the soft moonlight
They did not see me standing there
Watching in the cool night air.

The king he wore a jewelled crown
The queen had on a flowing gown
Their little helpers colourful and bright
It was such a wonderful sight.

They held hands and danced around
Amongst the flowers they had found
The children laughed and giggled with glee
Chasing and jumping under the tree.

I saw their carriage glimmering gold
Six little white horses standing bold
The dawn is now breaking fast
I knew this moment couldn`t last.

The fairies now must disappear
No-one should know they have been here,
I watch them go with great delight
And then they are gone till another night.

THE KITTEN

Lucy has a little kitten
Sooty is his name
He is nice and friendly
And also very tame.

He likes her to cuddle him
And stroke him round the face
He has a little clockwork mouse
That he likes to chase.

Sometimes he runs around the room
Playing with a ball of wool
He likes fresh fish for dinner
And eats until he is full.

In the corner sits his basket
With a fluffy blanket inside
Sometimes Sooty plays a game
And underneath it he hides.

Lucy loves her little kitten
And sits him on her knee
She will sit and talk to him
Until it`s time for tea.

THE TEDDY BEAR

Her big blue eyes were shining bright
Like twinkling stars in the pale moonlight
You`d think that I had given her the moon
As she sang and danced around the room.
This pink teddy bear that she could see
Was all that she had asked for from me
The playroom is crammed with lots of toys
Everything you could have for girls and boys
But she said what was missing from there
Was a big pink cuddly teddy bear.
She carried him inside for all to see
And told everyone it was a present from me,
She sat him down on a cushion on the floor
And said she would love him for evermore.

THE TOYSHOP

The childrens eyes light up with glee
For there is such a lot to see
Shelves of toys are everywhere
Just look at that big teddy bear.

A train is running down the track
Under the bridge and it`s on it`s way back,
The fire engine with Fireman Sam
And Postman Pat with his little red van.

We walk down the aisles one by one
The shelves of toys just carry on,
Dolls and prams for little girls
And talking dolls with pretty curls.

There are bikes and scooters on the floor
A big red car stands by the door.
Now a bouncing castle they see
Which they can go on and bounce for free.

They go round, looking at everything
Wondering what they want Santa to bring,
Maybe a pram, or maybe it`s a bike
They will decide what best they would like.

THE ZOO

We went to the zoo yesterday
We went to see the animals play.
The monkeys were climbing up the tree
The children were laughing out with glee.
We saw the camels with their humps
The elephants going thumperty thump
Lions were roaring and stalking round
Up and down in their compound.
The tigers and zebras with their stripes
The birds all colourful different types,
We saw the bears some white some brown
Reaching up then sitting down
We went to see the dolphin show
Them diving high then diving low.
The giraffes were standing very high
They seem to reach up to the sky
The ducks flap their wings and swim about
The little pigs so sturdy and stout
The penguins wobbling black and white
The big baboon gives us a fright,
There is lots to see and do at the zoo
Maybe next time you will come too

THREE LITTLE RABBITS

Three little rabbits were playing on the grass
Jumping and running and hopping around
Mother sat on the bank with a watchful eye
Watching and waiting not making a sound.

Not far away a fox was lurking
He was getting hungry and needed to eat,
He stalked through the woods and through the trees
He was very quiet and nimble on his feet.

The fox came near and saw the little rabbits
But mother was watching and called to her batch
She gathered them up and away they ran
And those little rabbits the fox could not catch

THE PARTY

Amy is five years old today
And a party she would like.
Mummy took her out to the shops
And for a present she bought her a bike.
When they got home they made a cake,
Decorated in pink and white.
Later when everything is ready
Five candles mummy will light.

At 4`clock her friends arrive
With presents for the party girl,
Amy opens them all one at a time
Her head is in a whirl.
Sandwiches crisps and jelly too
They are having for their tea,
When they have eaten till they are full
The birthday cake they will see.

After tea they play some games
They are dashing all around,
And whoever wins the game each time
A present can be be found.
They played until they were all tired
Now it`s time for home mummy said.
Amy said goodbye to all her friends
Then off upstairs she went to bed.

ON THE BEACH

The children were playing on the beach
Busy with their bucket and spade
They were digging down very hard
And a sandcastle they had made.

On the top they put some shells
Round the sides they built a moat
Then they filled it up with water
And on it they sailed a boat.

Then they went running down to the sea
And there they splashed around,
Then they walked up and down the sand
And a crab I see they have found.

Some donkeys were further up the beach
They were standing side by side
They were patiently waiting
To give the children a ride.

The children have had a nice time today
Playing on the sand
But now it is time for them to go home
So I will go and give them a hand.
